Telford & Wrekin Hockey Club Junior Easter Hockey Masterclass II: International Lineup Returns!

Following the resounding success of our Christmas Masterclass, we are thrilled to announce the highly anticipated Masterclass II, set to take place on Monday, April 14th. This exciting event will once again provide young hockey enthusiasts with the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by top-level international and England Hockey National Premier League players.

Building on the momentum of the previous Masterclass, this Easter edition boasts an impressive coaching lineup. Returning by popular demand is Scotland international Callum Mackenzie, fresh from his gold medal triumph at the Nations Cup 2 in Oman. Callum’s recent success adds an extra layer of excitement to the event, providing juniors with the chance to learn from a current international champion.

Joining Callum is his sister, Lorna Mackenzie, a highly skilled England international player currently showcasing her talent in the Premier League for Reading Hockey Club. Lorna’s experience and expertise will undoubtedly be invaluable to the young players looking to improve their game.

Completing the exceptional coaching team is Ben Hooper, a former Great Britain U21/EDP and Wimbledon HC Premier League player. Ben, currently playing for Reading HC, brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Masterclass as Head of Hockey at Bradfield College and Reading TA coach.

Masterclass II will be held at Telford & Wrekin Hockey Club, offering two-hour blocks tailored to different age groups. This format ensures that each participant receives focused coaching and maximises their learning experience.

The event is open to both club members and non-members, extending the opportunity to young hockey players from across the region.

Head of Juniors, Sunny Singh Sahota, “We are incredibly excited to host Masterclass II and welcome back Callum, alongside Lorna and Ben. The Christmas Masterclass was a huge success, and we’re confident that this Easter edition will be just as fun. We are committed to providing our juniors with access to top-quality coaching and inspiration, and this event is a testament to that commitment.”

This is a fantastic opportunity for young hockey players to develop their skills, gain valuable insights, and be inspired by some of the best in the game. Don’t miss out on this exceptional Easter hockey experience.

Updates on training and HockeyFest due to Whitchurch pitch availability

Afternoon All. Unfortunately we received news yesterday that the pitch at Whitchurch has not been completed.

As a result ‘Section training’ tonight 18.30 to 20.00 will take place at Bishop Heber High School, Malpas. This is predominately for 1s and invited 2s.

We have had to cancel tomorrow evenings ‘Club training’ and ‘HockeyFest’ on Saturday and we are hoping to get onto the newly resurfaced pitch at Whitchurch next Wednesday.

Please keep checking the club website for further updates
