Back2Hockey 2014

Following on from the huge success of last year Whitchurch Hockey club are starting Back2Hockey sessions on Saturday May 10th 2014 for eight weekends at the Whitchurch Leisure centre, SY13 2BY from 10.00 to 11.30, and its free!

Back2Hockey is a national promotion by England Hockey that will be run across the whole county aimed at giving adults who have never played or have played the opportunity to return to the game. It is run by qualified coaches and all equipment apart from shin pads are provided.

Our Hockey Academy also continues to run through the summer and will take place for children from 6 to 13 from 10.00 to 11.30 Saturday mornings.

In preparation for the upcoming AGM find attached some reference documents to give you all an idea of the club structure and the roles and positions available.

If you are interested in taking on any of the positions, please fill in the nomination form and return to secretary@whitchurchhockeyclub.com.

Its very important that we get fresh people involved in the running of the club so we can progress going forward.

Dates for the diary

Saturday April 26th 2014  –  Presentation evening (food and awards) – 19.00 at the CRICKET CLUB.

Tuesday April 29th 2014  –  Hockey AGM – 20.00 at the Rugby & Hockey club

Saturday May 11th 2014 – Back2Hockey returns – 10.00 to 11.30 at the Leisure Centre. If you are an adult who has never played or played previously and fancy returning come along and join in. It’s free and we will supply all equipment except shin pads.

The Academy will continue for the kids alongside the Back2hockey on Saturday mornings.

Indoor hockey continues every Sunday night and is open to all. After Easter it will run from 18.00 to 17.00 and cost £1. We currently have age range 8 to 60 and all throughly enjoy it as its good exercise played in the right spirit.

June / July – we are hoping to enter boys and girls teams in the Under 15 badgers league. We are waiting further details.

The Men will again be entering the summer league – details to be confirmed.

We are also looking to field a mixed team in the local league – details to be confirmed.
